A surprise Visitor!

A Long Tailed Tit.
As some of you will know I am a keen bird watcher and get very excited to see certain species.

At my old house in Reigate I saw flocks of Long Tailed Tits on a regular basis, they were always such a delight to watch but we've lived in this house for over 6 years now and I'd never seen one at all. Seen lots of other beautiful birds, Nuthatches, Goldfinches, Chaffinches,Marsh tits, Great Tits, Blue Tits to name but a few.

Then 10 Minutes ago, just as i was sitting here at the computer, a bird flew across my window and landed on the BT box just on the window ledge, it was a Long tailed Tit!
What a lovely surprise! It looked at me. I looked at it. Just for a few seconds we were just inches apart and then it flew off.

That has made my day!!

Beautiful photo. I'll show the farmer later - he loves bird watching too. Particularly of the tit variety!!

Sorry!

I cannot take the credit for the photo! It didn't stay long enough for me to photo it, so i found this lovely photo, just to use as a reminder of what the long tailed tit looks like.
Yes, my hubby's partial to a nice tit too!
sorry for spoiling the illusion!

Fabulous, I love when they visit too, they always seem to turn up in quite large groups, although I haven't seen many since I lost the big Whitebeam last May. We have lots of Bramblings at the moment, they are fun to watch.

That would have made my day too, I've never had long tailed tits visit any of the gardens I've had. I hope it pays a return visit.

Gorgeous, Muddie! We have pied wagtails over here but I don't think I've every glimpsed a long-tailed tit in this vicinity. What a sweet little bird.

How lovely. Last year we had a whole flock in the garden, but this year I've only seen one. I was startig to think they had all disappeared.

I was surprised to see one on the day I did the Birdwatch, cos we don't seem to see them so often now. They are so little and sweet.

Lovely picture ...I love the colours on them ...pinks and greys ..we rescued one off the cats last year and it was soon wellm enough to fly away but we were able to really have a good look at one close to.

Aha ...you and me owning up to 'crimes' today.....that garden on my blog is not mine!I only wish it was!

Elaine, that is lovely. We don't have those birds over here. What beauty!

I can quite understand how spotting one would have made your day.

As always, best wishes to you!

I love all the birds Muddie, I can spend hours just watching them, sadly there is never enough time for me to do this.

Lovely picture of long tailed Blue-Tit, they are so very pretty, and I adore their colours.
