"Be still and know that I am God"

Un Peu Loufoque in gently advising me to take it easier reminded me of the quote "Be Still and know that I am God", that verse brings back so many memories of my Convent school days.

There was a time when Lynne, my friend of Chocolate fame, and I were going through a very teenage religious phase and we had been befriended by one of the younger nun's. Dear Sr M. she was still a novice and going through a period of indecision about whether to take her final vows or not and at the same time Lynne was considering converting to catholisism. We must have been 17 ish and as Lynne didn't want to do the instruction on her own I went too, so every week we would meet with Sr. M in the old school chapel, such a peaceful, beautiful place. It was such joy to turn our backs on the hustle and bustle of school life just for half an hour and sit meditating and praying with Sr. M. The one meditation that I remember from those days that I used to repeat to myself over and over again was " Be still and know that I am God" and it is so true, just sitting calmly slowly meditating on those words brings such peace to me. So Thank You Un Peu for reminding me!
I probably do need to slow down a bit, it has been a busy week , having had 2 friends over , it is lovely to socialise but it is tiring. Lynne is a wonderful friend but she is very talkative and it was exhausting just listening to her. But she always has such fascinating things to tell me. I told her about this site and how we'd rebelled and walked out off Cl , she was intrigued by our title of Children, Chocolate and Wine and wondered if somehow we could get linked into her Chocolate Show, that would be good wouldn't it?
My other friend Helen, is much calmer and we had a much more relaxed day, she lives with Multiple Sclerosis, ( She says I must not say "suffer from") she's had it for over 15 years but fortunately she is able to receive the wonder drug Beta Interferon and it keeps her going, she still walks and though she experiences lots of difficulties she always has a smile and finds lots to laugh about. So we had a special day together. She is Lucy's Godmother, so I left them playing Monopoly in the after noon whilst I walked the dog!.
I mentioned going for a walk along the Wey & Arun canal and seeing all the beauitful wild flowers a couple of Sundays back, well today Lucy's class are having a Day Out to walk the 5 miles from the Restored Drungewick Bridge to Loxwood, where the next major reconstruction is going on. Stan was needless to say very excited to think that school would take them on such a walk and wished he could go along too, the reaction of the children seems somewhat more restrained, I think they think it will be boring! So after a light rain over night they have gone off this morning and will not be back until 3.30pm, the sun is shining now so they should have a good day.
I'm seeing the Consultant this afternoon and I think the inflation of the tissue expander is going to begin...............so if Matron can be on hand when I get back to make sure I don't float away!
Until later,
Muddie X

What a beautiful blog. Really interesting observation about "living with" rather than "suffering from". I will take that on board.

Living in the peace of the country is a wonderful way to focus on this lovely truth, the peace of God is a precious gift that filters into every aspect of our being. There is no better way to find this than to enter into the moment - whereever it may find you.

I agree with tumbling about not saying 'suffering', hope all goes well with the expansion

Matron has just popped in to tell you not to worry, the chat room has gone down temporarily owing to an error on Google which is preventing us cleaning out the fosses to make room for new posts!

You can still blog away merrily here on your own page, and to leave comments on all the others.

PS Forgot to say in blog....
Sr. M did take her vows and become fully fledged Nun, we went to the Service at the Catholic Cathedral, it was very moving.
Lynne did not convert but decided she was Agnostic, though did a year of Theology at Cambs before doing Law.

Hello Muddie, What a wonderful blog, interesting story about years ago with Nun. When ward based, I nursed patients with MS,the drug you mention certainly does help. Forgot to say Muddie, it might be bad luck, but adore Lilac, we have two white ones in the garden, but I love the blue/lilac colour. Camilla.xx

Hello, inthe mud - I enjoyed reading your blog and like you, I also live in an old woodcutter's cottage. I found it a refreshing reminder that we do not always need to hurtling around all the time - sometimes it's important to just "be". I must remember that.

Matron is visiting again with an IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

The chat-room is experiencing problems with overloading which we think is causing it to be marked as SPAM, which is in effect locking us all out :-

So in the mean time: each day please look out for the post called ANNOUNCE NEW BLOGS HERE and put your announcements in as comments on that post.

This will still leave space for one personal post per person which we can all comment on.

This is purely a temporary measure, we are keen to get the chatroom back to the weird and wonderful way it was going before - we are looking into various options at the moment (by the way, have you noticed that option is an anagram of potion) - WesterWitch! put down that cauldron!
