For 24 years I had my faithful old Teasmade my sister gave it to us for a wedding present and it was a Godsend. Every day without fail it would wake me up at 6.15am with a pot of hot tea, it doesn't get much better than that!
Then on Christmas Eve just gone, it made the tea but then there was a burning smell and a funny noise. I had to unplug it and admit that it had come to the end of it's life. I was quite distressed. How would I cope with mornings in the future?
My hubby, Stan, not wanting to be the one to get out of bed to make the tea told me to go out and buy a new one . Easier said than done! Argos don't do them, nor do Debenhams or any of the dept stores I went into.
So for a week I had to wake up without alarm and go down stairs in the freezing cold to make the tea. This was fine during the Christmas holidays, but once schools went back I needed to have an alarm again.
So on to ebay, and there I found a list of new and vintage Teasmades! Wonderful!
I ordered a new one, it arrived 2 days later.
Here it is-
It's is so cool! We had a few hiccups first few days trying to get it right, so once it didn't go off, another time I was woken with tea thinking that night went very quickly, only to realise it was only Midnight and I'd only been in bed asleep for 2 hours! We'd had a power cut and I'd put clock right but forgot to check the alarm setting!
But now all is well and we are back to having a morning tea at 6.15am without fail.
I love my new Teasmade!! It is my little luxury.
What's your luxury item?

Love your Teasmade - what a design! We used to have one years ago but not as elegant as yours.
My luxury - apart my my Apple laptop which gives me endless please - I think is the fact that I have my bed linen professionally laundered. As I am still working, albeit part time I can afford it. When I retire and when we are in France it is back to the drudgery of the ironing of sheets etc.
OOhhh it does loook wonderful. I have a teasmade that my grandparents owned I am too scared to put it on mind. However I do remember going into the their room as a child and being given biscuits to eat while they had their hot tea - it seemed frightfully grown up!
Arosebyanyothername, how wonderful to have your bedlinen laundered professionally. I have never done that.
Tattie, my parents had a teasmade when I was growing up and from early on I was allowed some tea from it , I too thought that very grown up!That's where it all started really, always waking to tea in bed!
Ooh, I wonder if I should get one. Do love my cup of tea in the morning... tell me, does the tea taste good?! Need to know!
Sorry I am late here Elaine, just catching up. I have always loved the Teasmade, had one when we first got married years ago, can't remembered what happened to it now.
The new one your purchased looks lovely, love the colour too.
