Beautiful Barn Owls

I have just come back from my afternoon dog walk. What a wonderful walk it was. First I saw the Buzzard, then as I came back through the meadow I spied the Barn Owl, flying low over the grass, as I watched he came nearer and then perched on a post. It's only 3.15pm, rather early for owls to be out. Then as I stood and watched another owl appeared and flew across the meadow. They seemed oblivious to me as they flew in tandem over the grass searching for prey. it was such a beautiful sight and such a lovely surprise. I've not seen 2 together ever before. Maybe it was an Anniversary Present from nature. Better than any flowers !

Ps No I didn't take the photos, but found 2 very similar to those I saw.

What a lovely thing to see. Usually if you see an owl during the day it means there is something wrong with the owl - but clearly not in this case. So glad that you shared it with us.

A very special Anniversary present.

Re:
Do you think they have paired then? I wish we got Barn Owls- we get Tawnies, Browns and Little Owls but the dreaded Bog owl is back and he is not welcome at all!!!!!!!!!! (at least I hope it was actually a Bog Owl Little Pete had seen when he rushed in today saying he'd just seen an Eagle Owl!)

Re:
Barn owls do fly at dusk I believe. A wonderful sight and a good omen I hope. Lucky you.

hi there! found you from your guest post on casdok's blog. i live in sussex too - the nature we have on our doorstep is amazing, isn't it? i love owls, there is something magical about them. a huge one lived in a tree near where i used to live and every night as i took my dog for his late night walk the owl would hoot as we walked underneath.
